|  Prior to its invasion of Japan, Britannia was shown to include all of the western hemisphere (Both North and South America) as well as New Zealand and the Philippines. The Novels also show Indochina (Area 10) as belonging to the Empire, though other maps contradict this; Cambodia is definitely a part of it, as it serves as Schneizel's faction's headquarter. Oddly enough, the British Isles are not part of the Britannian Empire but the EU, being lost to the mainland during the Napoleonic Wars. Australia remains independent.

|  The Black Knights are a group of vigilante rebels who fight against the Holy Britannian Empire. Founded by Zero, they define themselves as the "allies of justice", and differentiate themselves from other terrorists groups such as the Japan Liberation Front, who take hostages and kill civilians, though this may simply be a tactic to increase public support and recruitment. Most members are former Japanese, many of whom have defected from other insurgent groups, though many other peoples, even Britannians may be found among their ranks. Their logo is a Geass sigil with a sword through it, the same logo used in the spinoff Nightmare of Nunnally, by the Geass Order. After the ratification of the Union States Charter, the Black Knights became the military force of the United Federation of Nations.

|  The Chinese Federation was one of the three dominant superpowers in the world. As it sits immediately to the West of Japan, it receives a fair amount of coverage. After joining the United Federation of Nations, it became United States of China. While not as large as either Britannia or the E.U., the Chinese federation still holds a substantial amount of territory that has traditionally been outside China's sphere of influence, such as India, Pakistan, and Afganistan, as well as all of Southeast Asia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Khazakstan and the Korean peninsula.

|  Ashford Academy was established by the Ashford family's foundation in the Britannian settlement in Area 11 (formerly Japan). The school is large and extravagant, having even its own chapel, and run primarily by the student body president. Unknown to some of the students, some Knightmare pilots, who are their schoolmates, secretly train in the Ashford Academy. (RP Training Grounds)

|  Area 11 is one of the major countries under the Empire of Britannia. Formerly known as Japan, Area 11, prior to it's invasion and occupation, used the real-world Hinomaru flag, and had adopted a parliamentary system of government, having abandoned the Emperor's rule earlier. Surprisingly, the Japanese nation seems to have avoided becoming a subject of the Chinese Federation, despite nations as far away as Pakistan and as large as India becoming members. Ultimately, this may have been to their disadvantage, for when Japan's exploitation of the limited Sakuradite mineral export sparked the Second Pacific War, the Britannian Armed forced easily overwhelmed the unsupported nation's defenses. Now, the Japanese are known as Elevens, under the rule of the Britannian Empire, with the viceroy and sub-viceroy in charge.
